Vaarnii is a Finnish brand of furniture, lighting and objects founded around 2020-2021, born of a desire to reinterpret Nordic design through a radically material and local approach.
Behind the project are Finnish designers and creators who have made the deliberate choice to focus almost exclusively on an emblematic but often overlooked material: Finnish Scots pine. Abundant, robust and deeply linked to the country's landscape and culture, this wood becomes the starting point for all Vaarnii creations.
The brand stands for honest, sustainable design, where form flows directly from material, without artifice or superfluity. Each piece is crafted in Finland in collaboration with local workshops and artisans, highlighting the irregularities, knots and natural patina of wood as qualities rather than defects.
Vaarnii thus asserts a raw, sculptural and timeless aesthetic, at odds with ephemeral trends, with objects designed to last and transform over time.
The brand is part of a slow design approach, seeking to create a new language of Finnish vernacular design, rooted in the territory, know-how and respect for resources.
